Our story started in 1929 as specialists for building and industrial insulation. The idea: The better insulated a building is, the more resource efficient and economical its operation. Protecting our resources has always been at the heart of KRAMER’s work.
KRAMER, the cold room specialists.
A rapidly growing part of our services early on was the construction of cold rooms for industry, retail trade and catering.
Here too, the rule was: The better the insulation, the greater the benefits for customers and the environment.
KRAMER, the shopfitting specialists.
At the request of our customers, we expanded our range of products to include complete shop fittings as early as the 1960s.
It was also around this time that we realised: Customers love working with companies that are experts in their field and execute complete projects for them – from the initial idea all the way to the handover of the keys.

What would you call a perfectly insulated room that can be moved at any time and comes with full shop fittings? The answer: A KRAMER modular building.
For ten years now, we have been drawing on almost 100 years of know-how to create modern buildings that are as resource efficient as possible in both construction and operation and can be moved at any time.
KRAMER, the design specialists.
Standard has never been our business. Luckily, there are basically no limits when it comes to design options in modular building. Working together with our designers and architects, we combine tried and tested elements to create ever new structural masterpieces.

1929
Foundation
Fritz Kramer launches “Fritz Kramer Isolierungen” in the town of Grenzach. The insulation sector is an emerging market, as processes within the chemical industry demand ever-greater temperature stability.
1936
Turnkey cold rooms
The idea of offering turnkey cold rooms is brought to life. This lays the foundations for KRAMER’s primary business area. In addition, the company headquarters relocate to Rheinfelden.
1950
Relocation to Freiburg im Breisgau
Escalating demand results in the need for more space. In light of this, a branch office is established in Freiburg, which eventually leads to the construction of a new building and relocation of the company headquarters to this location in 1960.
1960
Ongoing growth
Start of production of cold room doors, followed by sales counters and comprehensive solutions for shop and guesthouse fittings.
1983
Exceptional success
Largest order in the company’s history to date from a Scottish natural gas refinery.
2010
Further expansion
KRAMER has three branch offices and several sales offices throughout Germany. A trendsetting building complex with cutting-edge production facilities opens in Umkirch in 2010.
2013
A new business area is established
The idea is born in 2013 to use the sandwich panels of the cold room to also insulate residential buildings. This gave rise to the modular construction method of addhome and modular building.
2016
Expansion to Spain thanks to largest order to date
KRAMER receives the largest order in its history from a leading European budget supermarket in 2016. This leads to a new branch office in Málaga (Spain).
2019
KRAMER celebrates its 90th anniversary
The motto “Everything from a single source” has become more and more firmly established, so that today the company can draw on decades of experience in the industries and the synergy effects of the business divisions. Thus, KRAMERGmbH is still “always one idea ahead”. We currently support our customers from 12 locations in five countries and through a close-knit network of service partners.
2022
The family business is now in its fourth generation
Daniel Weckesser is the next generation of the family to take on an active role in the management of KRAMER. The family tradition is continued in the fourth generation.
